These are among the things
that inspire 71 year old beauty queen, Ms. Senior Nebraska,
Patricia Starr, to pedal her bike 1,350 miles
from
Wahoo Nebraska to Atlantic City New Jersey
to compete in the 2008 Ms. Senior America Pageant. That and
the effort to raise funds for her hometown high school band.
--Yes, it is true, Patricia Eliason
Starr from Wahoo, Nebraska is again making headlines. She
was Miss Wahoo in 1957 and represented her home town in
the Miss America Pageant.
Now, more than a half century later
in 2008, she will make a "Journey of a Lifetime" as she
pedals her bicycle over 1,350 miles from her home in Wahoo
Nebraska to the Ms. Senior America Pageant being held in
Atlantic City, NJ on October 19-25 where, having in past
years been a contestant as Ms. Senior California and having
come in second runner up in the national contest, she will
once again try for the golden ring.
No stranger to
long distance cycling, she is truly an amazing woman who
in 2004 at the age of 67, pedaled 3,622 miles across the
continent from Astoria, Oregon to Portsmouth, New
Hampshire..
That journey
established a $1,000 a year music scholarship at Santa
Barbara City College that will be awarded in perpetuity.

Ms. Starr
Her husband
Gabriel says "She not only has the inner strength to
prevail over the many obstacles and adventures out on
the road, she has an hour glass figure that still makes
heads spin".
