October 11th,   Day 23

Miles Biked Today 57  -Total Miles 1,371

Hi Everyone,  We're almost there!  Pedaled around the beach area this morning and admired all the beautiful homes in Cape May. This is really a super resort town and some of the homes are five stories!  The downtown area is "touristy" with many shops, flowers everywhere, no vacant stores and everything kept meticulously clean. Met a cool "ad exec" named Mark who works in Washington and was out biking this morning so he helped us find our directions. Picked up Gabriel for lunch downtown and then hit the pedaling again. We now have pedaled 1371 miles with the 57 we did today so we are only 29 miles away from the 1400!  It's unbelievable that I will have pedaled 25 days in a row. Had a little break the wonderful day we spent with Pinky, Betty, Ruth and Gladys at the glamorous Jefferson Hotel but was back on two wheels in the afternoon.  Fitness experts would probably frown on this schedule but with the earlier problems we had with all those mountains, I just had to keep going and am happy to report I'm succeeding and am living and breathing with no complaints except a sore hand from many hours of pressure on my handlebars.

I want to again say "thank you" to all of you for supporting our scholarship program at Wahoo High School. A major contribution came in that pushed the fund to almost $6,000. Every single donation that comes in, large or small, makes a difference to some student and I am so grateful to you.

As we were pedaling this morning and enjoying the scenery, I climbed up a steep incline to cross over a long bridge. When I got to the top, I stopped to admire the river and locks and turned around to look at the sky behind me. The angel wings I saw last night were there again and several small ones like the picture of me on the front of my brochure. I know the big ones were Stan's again as I reported to you yesterday. It's a good feeling.

Bye for now.  Love, Patricia
