Hi Everyone! This has been an awesome day--I broke the barrier--I have now pedaled over 1,000 miles--1,021 to be exact! I was so happy I didn't know whether to jump up and down and shout or cry so I did a little of both. Then I stopped by a lake with the trees mirrored perfectly on the water--one of my favorite things and said a prayer of gratitude for Tony and I being safe. When I started the ride, it was only talk; now, this was a milestone. Still have 379 to go this week but it will happen. We have a few "social" things added to the schedule that are fun so that means there is not time for long pedal days anymore so that is why we needed to be on schedule and we are. We pedaled the first 20 in Lexington, VA before we took off a little before noon. The scenery here is so spectacular with trees everywhere and some of them are starting to turn colors. Every day is different. We had a 2 1/2 hr. drive via interstate (which we cannot ride on) to Richmond, VA so got the last 20 there. Wish we could have done more but had a chance to have dinner with Betty Mann and her friend Gladys--Betty has organized our appearance tomorrow at the Jefferson Hotel so I'll include details tomorrow.. We're not quite sure what it entails but sounds like fun. Gabriel had a big job this afternoon to start into the depths of all the belongings in the van. My piano had to come out for the first time and I got to practice! My fingers aren't flying very fast but seemed to be working reasonably well. I will be playing one or two things tomorrow. Also had to find a long, glitzy gown, my tiara and banner. First time to be in "real clothes" in 17 days. I ended up wearing the same outfit and washing it at night as it was the only thing that covered my neck. Would look a little ridiculous with a brown band around my neck like I have on my wrists. Amazing how the sun is still tanning this late in the season. The weather again today was picture perfect. We've missed all the storms but one and that one only caught us at the end of the day for an hour. I'm heading for the keyboard for some more practice and then "lights out" Love, Patricia
